The majority of people with COVID-19 have uncomplicated or mild illness (81%), with symptoms such as fever, fatigue, cough (with or without phlegm production), appetite/weight loss, malaise, muscle pain, sore throat, shortness of breath, nasal congestion, or headache. Rarely, patients may also present with diarrhoea, nausea and vomiting. Loss of taste and smell has also been reported early in the infection.
Swab Test- £195 (including consultation)
The test is a combined throat and nasal swab
–for those who are CURRENTLY symptomatic with signs of possible COVID infection-preferably within day 1 to day 5 of symptoms – we will offer a postal service for Home testing. The Kit contains full instructions and a pre-paid addressed envelope to the Labooratory.
-for those that need testing as part of requirements for AIR TRAVEL, WORK or similar. It is the patients responsibility to understand the requirements of the Airline or test-requiring agency with regard to timing of the swab test and when results are needed. We cannot give specific advice in this respect.
Results within 2 days of specimen arrival at the London Laboratory
PLEASE NOTE: For TIME CRITICAL swabs we can only book a morning slot at the earliest possible time in the specified window requested by the patient. We are currently getting results no later than 48 hours after the swab has been done but there may be factors beyond our control, from the time the swab leaves our premises by courier, that may delay the result for which we cannot take responsibility.
Antibody Blood Test- £130 (including consultation)
-for those that feel that they have PREVIOUSLY been infected with the COVID virus. Most patients that have had the disease have been found to produce the IgG antibody.
Testing should be done FOURTEEN DAYS OR MORE following exposure or onset of symptoms.
NB: it is not yet fully known if an individual with a positive result showing presence of IgG levels following being infected with COVID-19 will be protected, either fully or partially from future infection, or for how long the protective immunity may last. Therefore all guidelines regarding social distancing and personal protection should still be adhered to even if antibody tests are positive suggesting that one has had the infection previously.
